    To determine the best of the best fitness trackers and to cut through the noise out there, we spent over 30 hours researching 25 different models. We also compared them and read dozens of reviews from other publications, personal trainers, and runners to narrow our list down to 10 total fitness trackers to bring in for testing.

    Our editors tested these 10 different fitness tracker models, and we asked each tester for their feedback on all aspects of the product, including comfort, design, accuracy, and overall ease of use.     The latest addition to Apple’s line of smartwatches is a powerhouse when it comes to personal tracking, design, and usability. It has the sleek, intuitive user-friendly interface you expect from Apple, with detailed built-in sensors to track sleep, activities, menstrual cycles, and location.

    The watch has dozens of built-in activity modes for more accurate tracking, including dancing, kickboxing, and even archery. This newer model also has upgraded safety features, including crash and fall detection, so your watch can call for help or alert your emergency contacts in case of an accident.

    It comes in two sizes and multiple band colors and materials to match any outfit. Though the battery life isn’t as robust as heavier watches, the Apple Watch does charge quickly and the clear, full-color display makes it a pleasure to use daily.

    There’s not much this minimalist wearable doesn’t do when it comes to health metrics, which is why it’s my personal favorite fitness tracker. Wear the tracker attached to a comfortable, breathable, and flexible nylon band 24/7.

    It detects activities, sleep, heart rate, skin temperature, and much more. The device then compiles all of this data into actionable insights that can help inform your training and help you optimize feeling your best every day, whether you’re an endurance athlete or just want to crush it at work.

    And if you don’t feel like wearing the wrist strap, WHOOP also makes comfortable and functional workout gear, including a sports bra and workout shorts, for seamless tracking during any activity.

    As a marathon runner, I love that the WHOOP keeps me in tune with my body to avoid overtraining and to be able to capitalize on peak recovery days.

    We expect no less than brilliant from long-time wearable maker Garmin, and this advanced fitness tracker and GPS watch fits right into its line of products for serious and amateur athletes.

    This watch definitely has a sporty design, and the data tracking features to match. In addition to a highly accurate built-in GPS, the watch also doubles as a coach, offering preloaded workouts (or rest day instructions) right on the watch face.

    And speaking of the watch face, it’s hard to beat the clear, crisp touchscreen display. This watch offers a ton of data - from VO2 max and HRV levels to “training readiness” and sleep scores. You can even store music on the watch via Spotify, Deezer, or Amazon Music to run with tunes or podcasts sans phone.

    I am currently training for a half marathon with the Forerunner 265S and I love how much insight the watch offers into my training progression, sleep efficiency, and workout results.

The kicker is that you will need to subscribe to Halo for $3.99 a month to access all of the advanced features, which include body composition tracking, a full suite of workouts, and a personalized movement program. However, simply owning the Halo View does give you access to useful data like a sleep score, calories burned, and heart rate.

    The device is very lightweight, with a flexible rubber band that’s comfortable to wear and barely noticeable (which makes this watch great for tracking sleep). With regular use, the watch is meant to have up to a 7-day battery life, though I found it to be slightly shorter during testing.

    Overall, if you’re looking for a straightforward fitness tracker that will give you a high-level view of your activity and sleep patterns, you can’t go wrong with the reasonably priced Halo View.

    Despite the long list of fitness trackers from Fitbit, the Charge 5 is our top pick for comfort, usability, and design. Beyond counting steps and tracking your heart rate, this slim wrist strap offers some very helpful insight into your health.

    It provides a Daily Readiness Score that indicates how prepared you are to take on a challenge or whether you need a rest day to recover. It also tracks SpO2, heart rate variability (HRV), and body temperature fluctuations. For activities, the tracker has a built-in GPS to track your running or cycling route.

    When you’re done, you can check a map of your route and review your pace and distance on the Fitbit smartphone app. During our tests, we loved that the device would automatically track an activity. It knew when our tester was swimming laps in the morning, or when I was on a jog in the evening.
